Get a Ferry for a days shopping in Amsterdam
Many people travel from the UK to Amsterdam on the ferry just for a days shopping. Buying a return ferry ticket is optional and can be a good investment especially on savings you could make when not paying English high street prices.
Amsterdam city shopping - home to dutch antiques, books, diamonds and curiosities. Amsterdam is filled with little corridors of shops, each one caters its own niche and speciality.
Nieuwedijk-Kalverstraat has over a mile of shops. There is an area just for pedestrians that supply a constant stream of tourists and locals. The Nieuwedijk is mainly dedicated to clothing, sportswear, music and gift shops.
Kalverstraat is on the other side of Nieuwedijk-Kalverstraat. Here you'll find more shoes, clothing, bags, cards, perfume, fast food, and cafes. Broadly the mainstream brands.
If your feeling a bit tired during your ferry shopping trip and fancy taking the weight of your feet for a while then you can pay a quick visit to Spui, here you can find many cafes, bars and restaurants.
Along side Nieuwedijk-Kalverstraat are Rokin and Damrak. This can be a busy road so be careful and be on the look out for bikes. The Damrak is filled with restaurants, hotels and exchange bureau's
If you have a more expensive taste and require a little more luxury, Amsterdam can provide that aswell, find the haute cotoure boutiques situated at Pieter Cornelisz Hooftstraat. Here you will be able to shop for Cartier, Gucci, Edgar Vos, Tommy Hillfiger and Oger shops. After you have rendered some serious damage to your card unwind before the ferry home and stroll to the Vondelpark just at the bottom of the road.
